Hibernian FC | Born a Hibee

The Brief

Some football victories carry with them a meaning which lives on long beyond the final whistle. This was certainly the case for Hibernian Football Club when on the 21st of May 2016 the club lifted the Scottish Cup for the first time in 114 years.

The joyous response to this cup glory rippled throughout Edinburgh and there was an electricity flowing through the club that Team Tanami was excited to channel through the medium of video. Working closely with the marketing team at Hibernian FC, our goal was to produce a video which brought to life their authentic script as part of the ‘Born a Hibee’ 2017 / 2018 season ticket campaign. The video needed to celebrate the story of the cup triumph, but also recognise the legacy of the club using iconic archive material.

The Process

We had passionate source material to work with in the form of the script, written by Daniel Gray, author of ‘Saturday, 3pm’ which really captured the essence of the beautiful game and what it means to be a Hibee.

Working closely with the club, we secured two stars within a short timeframe; finding Dean, a true Hibs superfan to play our dad and newborn baby Harley, who tipped the scales at a whopping 6lbs on our shoot date!

Filmed in Leith (where else?!), the shoot was tightly scheduled to accommodate the busy diary of our two-week-old star. Our set was also treated to a surprise visit by none other than Hibs captain and winning goal-scoring legend, David Gray.

The Result

In order to stir up anticipation for our feature video, we created a short sneak peek trailer which the club released via Facebook and Twitter the day before the main video unveil. #BornAHibee then achieved 58k views within 24 hours, with this number having since almost doubled. The video was a key part of the campaign which has seen a record breaking number of fans sign up for season tickets.
